11/4/09: Wed. 3-4:30pm - Life on the Rocks
Check out the submerged rocks at Red Reef Park. Provide a habitat for a variety of species of animals like fish, crabs and snails. Explore the rocks at low tide to explore the rocks and sea life at Red Reef Park. Ages 10-18, tickets are $5-8. Please check out the event's website for more details.
11/5/09: Thursday 10-11am - Nature Tots
Join a naturalist and learn about nature with your child through with themed activities geared for young children ages 2 to 4 with adult. For ages 2 - 4 and the cost is $3. Please be sure to check out more info at the event website.
11/6/09: Friday 1pm-4pm - Opening Weekend Activities for A Christmas Carol
After seeing A Christmas Carol in the AutoNation IMAX Theatre, meet Museum staff at the Craft Corner for some fun ornament making activity. Kids will get to design, create and take home their masterpiece to hang on their holiday tree! Ages 4-18 and FREE with museum admission. More details here.
11/7/09: Saturday 11:30am - 1:30pm - Family Fest
Family fest is an exciting, interactive arts playground held on the Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza on the first Saturday of every month. Family Fest gives your family a chance to not only watch the show, but be the show! Touch, explore, learn, and discover! Free hands on learning for children including crafts, face painting, storytelling, theater classes, and performances. You can make a puppet, sing a song, try new dance moves out and have a wonderful day with your family!
On Saturday, November 7, 2009 there will be a free performance by Miami Music Project "Around the World Through Music" at 2pm. 11/8/09: Sunday - weeklong - Miami Book Fair International 2009
Booklovers, both young and old, get ready for the 26th edition of the Miami Book Fair International! Starting on Sunday, November 8th, the ever popular "Evening With..." series includes 6 nights of readings and discussions with noted national and international authors.
On Friday, November 13th, The Street Fair gets under way. It will feature the Festival of Authors, where 350 authors will read and discuss their work. Also, thousands of children from local schools will spend the day on Friday, November 13 participating in Children's Alley activities including readings, learning activities, arts-and-crafts, performances and entertainment.
Kids and teens that are fans of comic books will also enjoy the Comix Galaxy program featured during the Book Fair. Don't miss out on this fun, cultural and educational event!
Tickets: Street Fair on Friday, Nov. 13: All Admission is FREE. Street Fair on Saturday, Nov. 14 & Sun, Nov. 15: Regular Admission - $8 per person, Persons 62 and over $5 per person, Miami Dade College Students, staff & faculty (with ID) - FREE, Ages 18 and under - FREE. Volunteers - FREE.
